In clinical studies, a scan read as negative, when it was actually positive, accounted for most of these errors<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-block\">\n<ul>\n<li>Amyvid adds to overall, long-term combined radiation exposure. Long-term combined radiation exposure may increase risk of cancer. Drink water to ensure adequate hydration before receiving Amyvid and continue drinking water and voiding (urinating) frequently after receiving Amyvid to reduce radiation exposure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-block\">\n<p><strong>Most common side effects<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"content-block\">\n<ul>\n<li>Headache<\/li>\n<li>Muscle or joint pain<\/li>\n<li>Higher blood pressure. This is when the force of blood flowing through your blood vessels is too high<\/li>\n<li>Nausea<\/li>\n<li>Tiredness<\/li>\n<li>Injection site reaction (bleeding, irritation, or pain where Amyvid is injected)<\/li>\n<li>Anxiety<\/li>\n<li>Back pain<\/li>\n<li>Claustrophobia<\/li>\n<li>Dizziness<\/li>\n<li>Feeling cold (chills)<\/li>\n<li>Insomnia<\/li>\n<li>Neck Pain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Tell your doctor if you have any side effects.\u00a0<strong>You can report side effects at\u00a01-800-FDA-1088\u00a0or<\/strong>\u00a0<a class=\"lds-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/medwatch\" aria-label=\"www.fda.gov\/medwatch.\">www.fda.gov\/medwatch.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Before you receive Amyvid<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"content-block\">\n<ul>\n<li>Because of the risk of radiation exposure to the fetus or breastfed infant, tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breast-feeding, or plan to become pregnant or breastfeed.<\/li>\n<li>Tell your doctor about all medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, as well as vitamins and herbal supplements.<\/li>\n<li>Drink water to ensure adequate hydration before Amyvid is given.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>How to receive Amyvid<\/strong><br \/>\nAmyvid is used with a machine called a positron emission tomography (PET) scanner. The scan shows whether a person\u2019s brain has an abnormal buildup of a protein called amyloid beta. When amyloid beta proteins build up and clump together, they form lumps in the brain called plaques.<\/p>\n<p>Amyvid should only be given by healthcare professionals who are qualified by specific training and experience in the safe use and handling of radioactive materials safely. Amyvid for intravenous use is supplied in multidose vials containing 500-1900 MBq\/mL florbetapir F 18..<\/p>\n<p>This summary provides basic information about Amyvid.
